Welcome to our Academy Life
The students are given many opportunities to learn about the world around us and participate in wonderful activities.
Come see what field trips, activities and events we have done this year!
Mrs. Price’s Classroom and the Life of Butterflies
The 2nd and 3rd grade class is learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. They were blessed with going on a field trip to Natural Bridges in October and were able to bring home some caterpillars. Throughout the next few weeks they watch the “so tiny you need a magnifying glass to see them” caterpillars grow quickly. They ate through the milk weed plants so fast, Mrs. Price had to go get more!
Above you can see one chrysalis in each stage. The one on the left, will be emerging soon. The one in the middle hatched earlier and the one on the right is new. It has been quite the experience to watch the progress. The children even got to witness one hatching!
Annual Fractured Olympics
Every year, the Academy puts on the Fractured Olympics. This year, we actually coincided with the opening of the 23rd Olympic Winter Games! This is a wonderful event and the kids have a great time. Some of the events are: Jump roping, Limbo, Bean Bag Toss and a few more.
Kindergarten and 1st Grade adventures in candles
The bookstore was so kind as to donate 6 beeswax candles. We read a book about candle making and the use of them in church. Then we made some for Pascha!
Kindergarten and 1st Grade Learn to bake Spiced Antidoron loaves
Mrs. King and Mrs. Menard came to help the children learn the process of baking Spiced Antidoron loaves. The taste testing was their favorite.
Mrs. Price’s 2nd and 3rd Grade Classes go to Año Nuevo National Preserve
