Nature Camp 2017

October 5, 2017 By OfficeAdmin

For this years Nature Camp, the children had the wonderful opportunity to visit St. John’s Academy in San Francisco on their way to Fort Ross.  (http://www.stjohnsacademysf.org/)

After visiting some of the classrooms, the children were able to head to The Joy Of All Who Sorrow Cathedral and venerate the relics of St. John The Wonderworker. The Academy happened to be at the cathedral on the day we commemorate St. John the Baptist and so they were able to sing the Troparion to him, with the direction of our choir director, Anne Scheopp.

After visiting the cathedral they headed off to Casini Ranch, where they were going to be camping the next couple days.  The Russian River was close by to play in.

They had a wonderful trip to Fort Ross (http://www.fortross.org/) where St. Innocent actually served. Mr. Birnbaum, our docent, took them on a great tour. He even let them help raise the flag. The general store was still set up like it was back when the Russian and Alaskan colonies lived, traded and worked there.
